Captain Matt
I grew up in South Dakota, and joined the Army right after High School. I served 24 years as a Tanker before moving aboard Nike in 2024. I learned to sail in 2021 in Pensacola, Florida. I got the dream to own my own sailboat after being locked down in Germany in the early days of COVID. I found Nike in Florida and knew this was the boat I wanted. I refitted for 5 months, and at the end; two good friends introduced me to my love; Andrea. She was there when I launched and came to join me in the Bahamas with our three dogs.
Dinghy Captain Andrea
Born and raised in Sweden and retired from modelling. I’ve lived in 18 different countries so far. My best friend introduced me to the love of my life and I flew down to meet him and see our boat launched (and endure a Tropical Storm!).
Since I couldn't fly all my dogs to the US, I flew to Georgetown, Bahamas in April 2025 and have been living and sailing ever since.
Carlos
I’m 9 years old, a purebred white Longhair Chihuahua born in British Columbia, Canada. I lost my front teeth so my tongue is always out and ready to lick something. Mom kissed me hard on the nose when she first saw me, and I’ll gum your nose if you try it again! But I’m super friendly and love nothing more than to cuddle in a lap!

El Chapo
I’m 5, and the daddy to Cash. I’m also a purebred white Longhair Chihuahua from Manitoba, Canada. I love being a boat dog; This is what I’ve wanted my whole life! The first time I got on the deck, I ran forward and perched on the edge and thought, “Ahh! This is the best life!” I love running on the beach and snuggling with anyone.
Cash
I’m the baby at 3. El Chapo is my dad. I’m in charge of security on the sailboat! I alert everyone to other dogs, dinghies that drive by, and small random noises. If I’m not watching out for that, my jobs are to eat, lie around, and produce fluff; as I have the most hair of the three! I love being on the beach, collecting pine needles in my fluff, and running free around by mom and dad.

Chief Engineer Jim
Jim is Matt's father. After decades as a diesel mechanic and Army Reservist, Jim retired to Spokane Valley, WA.
When Matt asked him to sail to Georgetown, he joined up to keep the engine going and teach Matt how to make pizza on the grill. After 7 weeks and 700 miles, he got to cruise the Bahamas and help bring the boat to where Andrea took over keeping Matt in line.
Back in Spokane Valley, Jim is raising his puppy named Poppy and teaching his grandkids to make pizza while enjoying his new camper and captaining his own sailboat on the local lakes.
